The Ledges Trail @ Liberty Park

The Ledges Trail @ Liberty Park (2013-01-26)

The boys and I went on what we call a “ Hike” this past Saturday.  We went to the Ledges Trail at ,  this park is part of the the Summit County Metroparks and is located in Twinsburg (Ohio).    The Park’s website descibes the trail as:

Visitors pass by a unique system of sandstone ledges, into Glacier Cave
and to a wetland before traveling back to the trailhead over a long boardwalk.
The ledges are covered by a "living skin." Ferns, mosses and lichens grow here,
and endangered bats and other species live in the area. For the protection of
natural resources, please stay on the trail.

This is one of our favorite places to hike. The trail is only 1.1 miles long and it can be completed fairly quickly.  I believe the best time to go is right after a snowfall.    On this particular day we were the first people to hike the trail with the new snowfall.  It was a great hike.  I had to keep reminding the boys to stay behind me so that they did not disturb the snow for my photos.  But, by the end of the hike I was yelling for them to keep up with me, they were very tired.

After the hike we stopped and got cupcakes at Cup Caked, see the blog post for a great photo of a cupcake :)

Enjoy!
