The photo above is from the special night time photo shoot that the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad held for photographers. It was a small event and only 35 tickets were available for sale. I was fortunate to obtain a ticket. This photo shows the Nickel Plate Road Berkshire Locomotive No. 765 (owned by the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society) and the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad 800. This shows the “old” technology next to to the “new” technology.
I took the photo above along the tracks south of the old town of Jaite. I tracked the train and knew when to arrive. I planned on shooting at the crossing of Vaughn Road and the tracks. But, there were too many photographers set up at this location, so I hiked down the tracks about a mile and set up where I could get a photo without any people in it.
You can find all of my photos that I took in the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad – Steam in the Valley (2013) Gallery.
I chased the train both weekends and rode on it one time. they even have a website and mobile apps to track the train while it is in operation. It came in very handy to know where the train is and when it will get to your location.
It was a great couple of weekends. I cant wait until next year!
