Balloon Classic Invitational (North Canton, Ohio) — REDUX
On Friday (2 days ago) I went to the first day of the Balloon Classic Invitational in North Canton for the morning launch but it did not happen. I even wrote about it on this blog. So, I headed back down today and the weather was ideal, there were little to no winds and the skys were clear. There were over 60 balloon teams at the Invitational.
This weather was very similar to last year as far as the weather goes but the winds were in a different direction and it was blowing the balloons in to the sun making for less than ideal photos.
One of my photos is below and more are in my Photo Album.
Balloon Classic Invitational (North Canton, Ohio)
I got up early this morning and went to the Balloon Classic Invitational in North Canton at the Kent State Stark Campus. Today was suppose to be Dawn Patrol and a Media Launch. But due to winds and storms in the area they did not launch. I was able to get a few photos of a tethered balloon they were inflating. Take a look below.
Professional Car Society International Meet
Today the boys and I went to the Professional Car Society International Meet which was held at the Clarion Hotel in Hudson (Ohio). This is the annual meetup of the members of the Professional Car Society. they get together and show off their cars and have a great week.
A Professional Car is a custom bodied vehicle used in Funeral, Rescue or Livery Services. Such as a Hearse, Hearse-Ambulance, Ambulance, Limo. They are normally custom built limited run vehicles. For more info see the ProCar History Section of the Professional Car Society Website.
We saw a lot of cool vehicles, even one that had “CREEPY” on it’s License Plate.
Check out the photos in my Professional Car Society International Meet (2011-07-16) Photo Gallery. There is a teaser below of the Mall City Ambulance.
Cleveland Clinic – Twinsburg Campus Open House
The Twinsburg Campus of the Cleveland Clinic held an Open House before they open to the public. The boys and I attended the Open House to see what it was all about. The facility is amazing, it is large, has multiple floors and a full server Emergency Room. As you can below the exterior of the building is glass and looks great.
The Cleveland Clinic Air Medical Helicopter was also in attendance. It was a major attraction. I was able to get some abstract photos of the helicopter. I was not able to get any full shots of the helicopter without people in the photo as I would have liked. Check out the several photos below.
Additional photos can be found in my Cleveland Clinic – Twinsburg Campus Open House Photo Gallery.
Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Trip
The boys and I went to the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo today. The major attraction I wanted to visit was the African Elephant Crossing which the Zoo open this past spring. The photo below is of Willie the largest elephant at the Zoo and the only Male. According to the zoo keepers he weights approx 13,000 lbs.
After the elephants we headed up the hill to the Primate & Aquatic House. In the outside Gorilla Exhibit there were 2 gorillas and they were very active. All the other time I have been at the zoo they have been sleeping in the corner. The kids said that they thought the gorillas were smiling. I am not sure about that but I did notice facial expressions like the one in the photo below.
After we had lunch we headed up toward the bears and stopped at the Giraffe Exhibit. The Zoo is training the giraffes to eat out of the hands of the visitors. During this training period they are taking a limited number of visitors and letting them feed the giraffes. This was very cool to watch. Did you ever know how long a giraffes tongue is? Photo below of the giraffe being fed.
The next stop was the Bear Area. The Zoo just added 2 new orphaned Grizzly Bear Cubs which they acquired from Montana after their mother was killed. The boys thought they were cute, check it out for yourself below.
All of these photos plus more have been added to my Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Photo Album. You can also check out my other Zoo Photos on the Blog.
