My 2019

With the end of 2019 comes my annual calendar of photos. This is a Project 365 I started 7 years ago. Every day I take a photo with my iPhone and it gets added to the calendar. Below you can find all 7 years worth of photos. I create a square poster at the end of the year. Year 8 starts tomorrow! Enjoy!

Little White Rocket

Earlier this month we picked up a 2020 Honda Civic Si Sedan for my daily driver. My oldest son has been in need of a car for a while and he will be taking over the car I had been driving.

We wanted a smaller car and this one is a good fit. It is a Honda, so reliability should be very good. In addition, the sticker price on this is under $26,000 and I consider it to be a bargain at that price.

This is a 10th Generation Civic (this Gen started with the 2016 model year) but Honda did update it from the 2019 Si with some subtle tweaks to the Front and Rear Bumpers, LED Headlights, Matte Black 18″ Wheels (I got the All Season Tires), additional Red Accents on the interior, and updated Seats. The 6 Speed Manual Transmission also has a quicker Final Drive Ratio that improves acceleration.

In addition, in 2020 Honda added the Honda Sensing System to the Si. This is a suite of Safety Features including Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Lane Keeping Assist System, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

I never thought I would own a white car but the color Honda uses is brilliant and shines. They call it White Platinum Pearl. I have found out that this what they call a Tri-Coat Paint, so all three layers are tinted (primer, paint, and clearcoat). The paint changes color based upon the lighting and it has a sparkle when in the sun. The Matte Black Wheel in combination with the White Paint make for a great looking sporty car!

Twinsburg Christmas/Holiday Lights 2019

I was finally able to take the time to visit the Christmas/Holiday Lights at Twinsburg City Hall and Twinsburg Township Square. I was waiting for some snow but it never came this year when I was able to go.

You may recall that the City, Township and the Village hosted a Lighting Ceremony earlier this month and I was there to capture the event in photos. Be sure to check out that blog post also.

The photos I took are below. Enjoy!

Cleaning Dirty Wheels

Dirty tires and wheels drive me nuts! Our 2013 Honda CrossTour EX-L gets some of the dirtiest wheels I have encountered. I recently stopped driving this car and my teenage son has been driving it 100% of the time. I have not washed it for over a month and I knew it was time.

I attacked the wheels with a number of products. All of the chemicals are from the Professional Line of Meguiar’s and the brushes and other items were from a variety of sources.

Here is my process and photos

  1. I began with spraying Meguiar’s D180 Wheel & Paint Iron DECON on the rim and allowed it to dwell. This is a gel and clings to wheel. It will turn purple as it does it work. It is lifting the iron particles so that you can rinse them off.
  2. While the D180 was working I sprayed the tire with Meguiar’s Super Degreaser, D108. And then I agitated with a stiff tire brush. This removes the grime from the tire.
  3. Then I took a wheel brush that I had sitting a bucket of soapy water and cleaned the barrel and the face of the wheel and rinsed off the tire and wheel with a strong stream of water.
  4. To make sure I removed all of the dirt and grime I sprayed on Meguiar’s Wheel Brightener, D140 and cleaned the barrel and the face of the wheel and rinsed off the tire and wheel with a strong stream of water.

Do you follow a similar process or do you do it differently? I would love to hear about it as I am always looking for new and more efficient ways of cleaning the vehicles.

Take a look at the photos below to see the steps int he process. As you can see it was a very dirty wheel!

I sprayed the Meguiar’s D1801 Wheel & Paint Iron DECON on the rim and let it it for a few minutes. You can tell it is working when it changes to purple.

Merry Christmas

Mickeys Once Upon A Christmastime Parade

I took this photo of Jolly Old St Nick at the Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade in 2014. Our family made the trek to Walt Disney World to see what it was like at that time of year. And yes, it was busy 🙂

So, who is excited for Christmas?

Twinsburg Middle School Basketball vs Nordonia Middle School School Basketball

Last night I attended the Twinsburg Middle School Basketball vs Nordonia Middle School Boys Basketball Game. I was at both the 7th and 8th Grade Games.

This was the first time I had been at and photographed a middle school game and I was very impressed. The skills of the players was higher than expected and the crowd participation in the game was amazing.

You can see all the photos from the games on my photography website in this gallery.

Twinsburg Girls Varsity Basketball vs Stow-Monroe Falls High School Varsity Basketball

Last night I attended the Twinsburg High School Basketball vs Stow-Monroe Falls High School GIRLS Basketball Game. This was game number 4 for the day for the schools. They played all of their basketball teams from Freshmen all the way to Varsity for both the BOYS and the GIRLS. It was a great day of hoops.

You can see all the photos from the game on my photography website in this gallery.
