Visiting the 9/11 Memorial is a profound experience that invites reflection and remembrance. Situated at the site of the former World Trade Center, the Memorial honors the nearly 3,000 victims of the September 11 attacks and serves as a poignant reminder of resilience and unity in the face of tragedy.
Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by the serene beauty of the Memorial’s twin reflecting pools, which sit in the footprints of the original Twin Towers. The names of all the victims are inscribed on bronze parapets surrounding the pools, creating a space for personal reflection and remembrance. Many visitors find themselves moved as they trace the names of loved ones, connecting with the stories of those who were lost.
In March of 2019 I visited New York with the Twinsburg High School Orchestra and Marching Band we visited the National September 11 Memorial & Museum.
It was a truly moving experience and all the emotions came right back. We can never forget this day, it changed our nation and the world. Every year we must remind ourself of the emotions and the feelings we had so that we do not repeat it.
Below there are some photos from the 9/11 Memorial in New York City I captured.
NEVER FORGET!
