I spent today on the sidelines photographing the Twinsburg Tigers and Hudson Explorers girls soccer teams as they faced off in junior varsity and varsity action.

Hudson controlled the scoreboard in both matches. The Explorers earned a 6–0 victory in the JV game before completing the sweep with a 4–1 win at the varsity level.

The final scores tell only part of the story, though. Both games offered plenty of intensity, athleticism and determination to capture—from battles for possession and runs into open space to saves in front of the net. Even when the score favored Hudson, Twinsburg continued competing and looking for opportunities until the final whistle.

Days like this are why I enjoy photographing high school sports. Every match brings together competition, teamwork and emotion, while the photographs preserve moments that players, families and fans can revisit long after the season ends.

• Junior varsity: Hudson 6, Twinsburg 0
• Varsity: Hudson 4, Twinsburg 1
