Twinsburg High School Celebrates the Reopening of Tiger Stadium

Twinsburg High School welcomed students, families, alumni and community members back to the newly renovated Tiger Stadium on Friday, August 21, 2026, for an evening filled with school spirit, football and fireworks.

The celebration began before kickoff with a Back-to-School Tailgate, giving families an opportunity to reconnect and meet Twinsburg City School District’s new superintendent, Dr. Sandy Womack Jr. From the beginning, the gathering felt like much more than the start of another football season—it was a celebration of the entire Twinsburg community.

Pregame festivities honored both the district’s past and its future. Twinsburg Youth Football players and cheerleaders received special recognition, while members of the Class of 2039—this year’s kindergarten students—participated in a welcome parade in front of the home bleachers. It was a fitting moment: some of Twinsburg’s youngest Tigers taking the field on the night the community opened a new chapter in the stadium’s history.

The Tiger Marching Band brought its familiar energy to the field, helping build anticipation for the evening’s centerpiece: the stadium rededication and ribbon-cutting ceremony. District representatives, Board of Education members and community guests gathered on the field to officially mark the reopening of the renovated facility.

Once the ceremony concluded, attention turned to the season-opening matchup between the Twinsburg Tigers and the Kent Roosevelt Rough Riders. The renovated stadium provided a fresh setting for one of the community’s most enduring traditions—coming together under the Friday-night lights to support Twinsburg’s students.

Fireworks throughout the game added even more color and excitement to the occasion. After the final moments on the field, another display illuminated the sky above Tiger Stadium and brought the celebration to a memorable conclusion.

For me, fireworks are always a favorite subject to photograph, and this show offered some spectacular moments.

The grand reopening was made possible through the work and support of many people and organizations. Fireworks sponsors included FieldTurf USA; Cordogan, Clark & Lesko Architects; Ground Up Lawn Management; R&T Fence; The Vasco Group; Mark’s Electric; and Mid-Ohio Paving. The Back-to-School Tailgate was hosted by the Twinsburg Education Association, Twinsburg Support Staff Association and OEA Secretary/Treasurer Rob McFee, with support from OEA grant funds.

More than a renovated athletic facility, Tiger Stadium remains a gathering place—somewhere students compete and perform, families make memories, and generations of Tigers come together. Its reopening celebrated the traditions that have long connected Twinsburg while looking ahead to all the moments yet to unfold there.
