Over the years, TJPowell.net has grown to include a little bit of everything: photography, Twinsburg sports, Jeeps, off-roading, travel, projects and whatever else seemed worth writing about.

That variety is part of what makes the site mine, but it also created a problem. With so much material spread across the website—and across a few other places online—it was not always obvious where a visitor should begin or how to find what they wanted.

Recently, I spent some time addressing that. I revised the landing page and rebuilt several important pages to make the website clearer, easier to navigate and more useful.

A New Landing Page

The biggest change is the redesigned TJPowell.net landing page.

The new page provides a much better introduction to the site and the things I spend my time doing. Photography—particularly Twinsburg sports photography—is featured prominently, but the page also makes room for the Jeep, off-road, overlanding and travel stories that have always been part of the blog.

More importantly, the landing page now helps visitors answer a simple question: “What are you looking for?”

From there, visitors can quickly reach the latest photo galleries, learn more about my sports photography, browse the current sports index, read recent blog posts or explore my Jeep and travel content.

The goal was not simply to make the homepage look different. It was to give the website a clearer structure and make the most useful destinations easier to find.

A Better Place to Start

I also completely revised the Start Here page.

The old version was primarily a collection of links. It worked, but it did not provide much context or explain how the different parts of my online presence fit together.

The new page is more of a guided introduction. It brings together my photography website, newest galleries, current Twinsburg sports index, favorite photographs, blog, YouTube channel, Jeep and travel posts, social media accounts and support page.

It also explains what visitors can expect to find in each place.

I have accumulated a lot of material around the internet over the years. The Start Here page is now the central directory that connects it all.

A Dedicated Media and Verification Page

The revised Media page now serves two related purposes.

First, it provides a concise introduction to my high school sports photography. It explains that my coverage is about more than recording the biggest play. I also look for the athletes, coaches, sidelines, crowds, celebrations and quieter moments that help tell the complete story of an event.

Second, the page provides a central location for photographer identification, verification and contact information. Event organizers and staff can use it to confirm who I am, see examples of my work and contact me with questions about coverage or media access.

Having that information available in one clear, professional location should make things easier when I am working at an unfamiliar school, tournament or event.

Explaining Why I Photograph Sports

The revised Sports Photography page is more personal.

It explains why I continue showing up along the sidelines of Twinsburg sporting events and what I hope the photographs will preserve.

The big plays matter, of course. I want the winning goal, the difficult catch and the celebration at the buzzer. But those moments are not the whole story.

Sometimes the photograph that matters most is a coach talking with an athlete, teammates laughing during warmups, the bench reacting to a play or a senior taking one last look around after the final home game.

A season goes by quickly. The photographs become more valuable later, when they bring back the rain, cold nights, crowded gyms, student sections, celebrations and people who shared those experiences.

The page also explains how families may download and share my sports photographs, why I ask for a simple photo credit and how people can support the project if they choose. The photographs remain free for athletes and their families to enjoy.

Making Older Posts Easier to Find

Finally, I added a dedicated Archive Search page.

After years of writing, useful posts can easily disappear beneath newer material. The archive search provides another way to explore the site and rediscover older stories, photographs, trips and projects without paging through the blog chronologically.

This is especially helpful on a website that covers several different subjects. Someone looking for an old Jeep project may not want to sort through years of sports posts, just as someone searching for a particular game or photography article may not be interested in the off-road material surrounding it.

The new search page makes the site’s history more accessible.

Bringing Everything Together

These changes are all part of the same effort: making TJPowell.net easier to understand and explore.

The site still covers photography, sports, Jeeps, trails, travel and an assortment of other projects. I have stopped trying to force all of that into a single narrow subject. Instead, the new pages provide clearer paths through everything that is here.

Whether you arrived looking for photographs from a recent Twinsburg game, information about my sports coverage, an older Jeep article or simply a way to follow along, it should now be much easier to find your way.
