Honoring Service, Remembering Sacrifice
On Monday, May 25, 2026, the City of Twinsburg brought the community together once again for its annual Memorial Day Parade and Service—a tradition grounded in remembrance, gratitude, and unity.
I had the opportunity to attend and photograph the morning’s events, capturing not just the parade itself, but the meaning behind it. Like many small-town observances, Twinsburg’s Memorial Day carries a balance of pride and reflection—something that becomes more evident the closer you look.
Parade Details & Community Gathering
The morning began at Twinsburg High School (10084 Ravenna Road), where participants assembled ahead of the 10:30 a.m. start. By 9:45, groups were forming—bands tuning instruments, veterans gathering, and community organizations preparing to step off.
At 10:25 a.m., Ravenna Road closed to traffic. Minutes later, it transformed into something more meaningful—a route of remembrance stretching south toward Church Street.
When the parade stepped off at 10:30, the tone was set—not just a parade, but a tribute.
More Than a Parade: The Meaning of Memorial Day
Memorial Day is often associated with the start of summer—but its purpose is far more significant. It is a day to honor the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication to duty secured the freedoms we experience every day. Events like this ensure their legacy is not forgotten.
Memorial Day Service on the Square
Following the parade, the community gathered on the square in front of First Congregational Church of Twinsburg for the Memorial Day service. Here, the energy shifted. The movement of the parade gave way to stillness. The ceremony included remarks, tributes, and moments of remembrance dedicated to those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Standing among the crowd, it was clear this wasn’t just a closing event—it was the heart of the day.
Lest We Forget
The City of Twinsburg’s message is simple and powerful: Come together. Remember. Honor.
Memorial Day remains a time for reflection, gratitude, and unity—a day to recognize those who gave everything in service to our nation. Events like this ensure their legacy continues, carried forward through shared memory and community tradition.
