Earlier this month a group of 5 guys (4 Jeeps) from Ohio invaded Rush Of-Road Park in KY. This was a weekend trip and we had 2 days of wheeling. It was a great trip but we do not plan on going back. The park is obviously set up for SxS and not Jeeps. The ratio of SxS to Jeep had to be 100:1 or more. There were primarily dirt/mud trails. We prefer more rocks than mud.
The one trail that was a big challenge was Rankins Ravine (Trail 81). Rankins Ravine takes you down into a narrow ravine with lots of rocks and fallen trees. It was obvious that this sees a good bit of water in a storm event. It was just a trickle while we were there. The trail features be squeeze (for a Jeep) and then a steep uphill waterfall. It was very challanging. The photo above is from this trail. And the first video linked below is dedicated to this trail.
The second video is from the other trails we did. We found a large mud hole on Trail 97 and you can see us get past it. There is also a steep decent we did as well.
After the video links you will see my favorite photos from the weekend. And you can see the rest of the photos on my Photography Website in this Gallery.
Video from a trip to Ouray in Sept 2021. This is the Red Mountain Mining Area. Easy trail with lots of history. A full set of photos is in this Gallery on my Photography Website. Enjoy!
Video from a trip to Ouray in Sept 2021. This is Poughkeepsie Gulch. This is one of the most technically challenging trail in the area. The main reason is for what is called “The Wall”. You can see me going up the wall in the video. Enjoy!
Video from a trip to Ouray in Sept 2021. This is Imogene Pass. One of the most iconic off-road trails in the world. This trail connects Telluride with Ouray. It is not a difficult trail, but the scenery is outstanding! Enjoy!
Video from a trip to Ouray in Sept 2021. This is Black Bear Pass. One of the most iconic off-road trails in the world. This trail is rated as difficult, primarily due to the steep drop offs on the switchbacks. I would not suggest anyone without experience off road to attempt this trail. This is a long video as I have included all of the video footage from the top of the switchbacks all the way into Telluride. If you only watch a portion I suggest that you stick around about 10 min until the descent into Telluride begins. A full set of photos is in this Gallery on my Photography Website. Enjoy!
Have you heard of the “Million Dollar Highway”? It is US 550 between Silverton, Durango and Ouray (Colorado). This stretch of of road is not very long but it will take you a while to traverse it as it winds through the mountains with stretches having speed limits of 25 MPH. There are steep drop offs and curves. The drop offs are in the hundreds to thousands of feet, but there is no guardrail. You have to be very careful driving this road.
I strung together several clips when driving north on the way into Ouray.
In September a group of guys and myself traveled from Ohio to Ouray, Colorado to go off-road in the San Juan Mountains. We did a number of the high mountain passes. Engineer Pass was the firs one we did. I took photos and videos. Below you can find some of my favorite videos and a link to a YouTube Video I made. Enjoy!
At the end of July my son and I attended the Jeep Jamboree – 10th Coal Mountain 2021 which takes place at AOAA in PA. This was the third time I have attended this Jamboree. This time was the best, we chose a harder trail and had a great time hanging with everyone and going off-road. Definitely do this again! Some photos and a video are below and you can see more on my photography website in the 2021 Gallery, and look back at the 2019 and 2017 galleries as well. Enjoy!
Earlier this month a group of 4 guys from Ohio invaded Windrock. This was a weekend trip and we had 3 days of wheeling. It was a great trip and we hope to get back there in the future.
GPS Tracks
While on the trails I had a GPS Track Logger going. This is an image of Google Earth with the tracks shown. Day One is in Red, Day Two is in Blue, and Day 3 is Purple.
YouTube Video
I created this video from photos taken and a few video clips. It is long but you will get to see everything we did.

All the photos I took and the ones sent to me by the others on the trip are on my Photography Website in this Gallery.
