Back on the Trail: Penn’s Woods Jeep Jamboree 2026

Every Jeep Jamboree has its own personality, and that’s one of the reasons I keep coming back. Some events are known for incredible scenery, others for technical trails, and some simply because of the people you meet along the way. This year’s 29th Penn’s Woods Jeep Jamboree had a little bit of everything.

For this trip, I spent Friday on the Tidewater Turn trail and Saturday on Explorers Ransom, two trails that offered very different experiences while showcasing the rugged beauty of Pennsylvania’s Allegheny Highlands. As always, I brought along my camera, hoping to capture not only the Jeeps and the obstacles but also the moments that make weekends like this memorable.

Friday – Tidewater Turn

There is something special about the first morning of a Jeep Jamboree.

The parking lot is full of freshly washed Jeeps, everyone is making last-minute gear checks, conversations start between people who have never met before, and there is a shared excitement about what lies ahead.

Once our trail group rolled out, we quickly found ourselves surrounded by the dense forests of northwestern Pennsylvania. Tidewater Turn turned out to be an outstanding way to start the weekend. The trail continually changed character, mixing rocky climbs, muddy sections, narrow wooded trails, and enough technical obstacles to keep everyone engaged without ever feeling overwhelming.

One of the things I enjoy about these events is watching how different drivers approach the same obstacle. Every Jeep is built a little differently, every driver has a different comfort level, and yet everyone eventually finds their way through. Nobody is competing—everyone is simply out there to enjoy the trails and help each other succeed.

That sense of teamwork is one of the things that keeps me returning to Jeep Jamboree events.

Saturday – Explorers Ransom

Saturday’s Explorers Ransom trail had its own personality.

While Friday featured plenty of rocky terrain, Saturday seemed to flow from one type of obstacle to another. Tight wooded trails, elevation changes, technical rock sections, and muddy climbs kept us busy all day. It was one of those trails where every corner offered something new.

As much as I enjoy driving, I also enjoy watching everyone else navigate the trail. Some drivers carefully pick every line while others simply trust the Jeep and let it work. Modern Wranglers are remarkably capable vehicles, and it’s always fun to watch owners discover just how much their Jeeps can accomplish with a little guidance from the trail guides.

Speaking of the guides, they deserve a tremendous amount of credit. They somehow manage to keep the group moving efficiently while making sure everyone feels comfortable, safe, and has a great time. Their experience and patience are a big reason these events run so smoothly.

More Than Just Trails

If someone asked me what makes Jeep Jamboree special, I probably wouldn’t start by talking about the trails.

Over the course of the weekend I had conversations with Jeep owners from all over the country. Some were attending their first Jamboree while others had participated in dozens. Some drove nearly stock Jeeps while others had built impressive trail machines over many years.

None of that really mattered once we hit the trail.

Everyone was there for the same reason—to spend a weekend outdoors, challenge themselves a little, and enjoy places that most people will never get to experience.

Those shared experiences have a way of turning complete strangers into friends before the weekend is over.

Watch the Adventure

Still photographs tell much of the story, but video captures the movement, sounds, and atmosphere of being on the trail.

I put together a video from both Tidewater Turn and Explorers Ransom that follows the weekend from start to finish. If you’d like to experience more of the terrain and trail action, you can watch it below.

I’ve uploaded my complete collection of photographs from the weekend to my photography website. The gallery includes hundreds of images from both trail days, capturing everything from technical obstacles and scenic overlooks to the candid moments that make Jeep Jamboree weekends so enjoyable.

Until Next Time…

By Sunday morning I was tired, my Jeep wore a healthy coating of Pennsylvania mud, and I had another weekend’s worth of memories to sort through.

That’s usually the sign of a successful Jeep trip.

Penn’s Woods delivered everything I hope for in a Jeep Jamboree: outstanding trails, beautiful scenery, well-organized trail rides, and a chance to spend time with people who share the same passion for exploring the outdoors.

I hope you enjoy the photographs and the video as much as I enjoyed creating them.

Until the next trail…
